Medicare Treatment and Surgery Coverage

If you’re on Original Medicare, your health insurance covers a wide range of medically necessary treatments and surgeries. Medicare Part A is hospital insurance, which helps with the costs of inpatient procedures and treatment. Medicare Part B is medical insurance, which covers outpatient care.

Medicare Advantage plans from private insurers are required to at least match the coverage you would get through Medicare Parts A and B. These plans can offer additional benefits, but they may require you to see doctors and surgeons who are part of a provider network to get the most out of your coverage. Your healthcare provider may also be required to get prior authorization from your insurance carrier.
