GoHealth partners with Chicago-based Bright Pink for women’s health workshop

As part of our lunch n’ learn series, GoHealth welcomed Bright Pink into our corporate headquarters for their signature Brighten Up Educational Workshop. Many GoHealth employees had never heard of the Chicago-based organization, so the 20-plus attendees were immediately excited to learn more.

Bright Pink is the only national nonprofit focused on early detection and prevention of breast and ovarian cancers in young women. Founder Lindsay Avner felt compelled to start Bright Pink in 2007 after she became that youngest person at the time to undergo a risk-reducing double mastectomy. Now, through education, awareness, and inspiration, Bright Pink’s hope is to decrease breast and ovarian cancer deaths.

The Bright Pink ambassador discussed a short but visually-engaging and interactive presentation, covering the basics of breast and ovarian health, plus different lifetime risk levels and prevention strategies for these diseases.

Think this information is just for women? Breast cancer can apply to both men and women, and the few men in attendance were thankful they came to learn more.

We want to extend a special thanks to Chicago’s Goddess & Grocer for supplying the delicious (and healthy) lunch, including assorted sandwiches and dips. Stay tuned for more information about our lunch n’ learn series for 2017.
