Medicare Dental and Vision Coverage

Caring for your teeth and eyesight makes a huge difference in your health and happiness as you age:

  • Older adults often experience oral health issues like cavities and gum disease, which can lead to tooth loss. By routinely brushing, flossing, and seeing a dentist, you’ll reduce the chances of developing problems that interfere with your ability to eat healthy foods and communicate.
  • People over 65 are at higher risk for vision problems such as macular degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma. Regular eye exams can catch these issues early as well as keep your prescriptions for eyeglasses or contacts up to date.

Since Original Medicare generally doesn’t cover oral and vision health, you should understand your options to access care. For example, a Medicare Advantage plan from a private insurer may offer additional benefits, including vision and dental coverage. Read our articles for details.
